The University Foundation is the meeting place
- for all academics in Belgium,
- for academics and members of civil society,
- for academics in Belgium, foreign academics and members of international organizations.
The various initiatives of the University Foundation are described on this website. For some parts of the website that are not relevant for international visitors there is no English version.
According to the decision of the National Security Council on COVID 19, we are forced to close the University Foundation Club and its services such as the restaurant, meeting rooms, ... from March 14 until June 7, 2020 (minimum). We are very sorry about this. Our house and your offices remain accessible. As to the hotel, we will try to maintain reservations; however, we draw your attention that there will be only a minimum service (no breakfast ...). We will keep you informed as soon as there is more news about this crisis.
The University Foundation regularly organizes academic activities and cultural activities for its members and other interested parties: lunch debates, evening lectures, visits to art exhibitions, music performances in Bozar, opera in La Monnaie... Most of these activities are organized in French and Dutch, sometimes, but rarely, only in French or only in Dutch. Therefore they are not explicitly mentioned on the English version of the website. The interested reader is refererred to the French and the Dutch versions of the website for further information.
On Friday March 20, 2020, from 5 to 7 pm Re-Bel organizes a debate at the University Foundation, entitled "Is a federal electoral constituency a solution for Belgium?"

The Ethical Forum 2019 was organized on December 5, 2019, form 2 to 6 pm at the University Foundation. For a description of the topic and the programme, you are referred to the website of EF 2019.
To stimulate publication of scientific papers in international journals, of which the language is mostly English, the Commission for Subsidies and Publications of the University Foundation has decided to open the possibility of financial support for linguistic editing of the manuscipt.
In an official ceremony at the University Foundation on December 13, 2018, the biannual Fernand Collin Prize for Law was awarded to dr. Joost HUYSMANS, fot his doctoral thesis “Legitieme verdediging”, Intersentia, Antwerp, 2017, 958 p. He obtained his Ph. D. from the KU Leuven.
