During the new year's cocktail on January 30, 2014, attention was given to the newly published book on the hsitory of the Biermans-Lapôtre Foundation, "sister of the University Foundation in Paris" . The book tells the biography of the founder of the House for students from Belgium and Luxemburg in the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris, as well as the history of the house itself. The book entitled "Biermans-Lapôtre: history of a mecenas and his Foundation" is authored by Serge Jaumain and Pierre Van den Dungen, and is published in French and in Dutch. Speeches were given by Jos Aelvoet, FBL Director, Philippe Mettens, Chairman Federal Science Policy BELSPO, and the authors. In a series of interviews, chaired by Philippe Van Parijs, a number of former residents of the House Biermans Lapôtre in Paris spoke of their recollections on their stay in Paris.
